Why Élan?

Élan means momentum: that little push that gets us moving.

For me, movement is about much more than getting a workout in. It’s about building a relationship with your body that lasts beyond the studio—learning how to move with strength, awareness and confidence, and discovering what you’re capable of along the way.

What Pilates Means Here

Pilates is about bringing movement back into your life—not just moving more, but moving well.

We spend so much of our time sitting, leaning forward, and repeating the same small range of movement day after day. In class, we create space to move differently: forward, sideways, backwards, upside down (sometimes), and in all the directions your body was designed to explore.

Pilates gives us a foundation of stability, mobility, coordination, control and balance. Through breath, awareness and precision, we work toward a body that feels both strong and capable of moving freely.

I’m not here to replace your gym routine, strength training, or the benefits of progressive weight loading. Instead, I see Pilates as something that can support all of it: helping you understand your body, move with greater control, and build the foundations that allow you to do more.

My Approach

My training is rooted in classical Pilates, but I don’t believe movement needs to live in one box. I draw from contemporary Pilates and from the movement practices I love—particularly dance, aerial arts, circus and other physical disciplines.

What ties them together is curiosity. I’m fascinated by what the body can learn to do, and even more by the moment someone realizes they’re capable of something they didn’t think they could do.

That’s why I want my classes to be a place where you learn, not just follow along. I’ll ask you to pay attention to your breath, your alignment, your muscles and your movement—not because everything needs to be perfect, but because awareness gives you more choices.

You won’t find hot Pilates or a trendy sculpt class here. That doesn’t mean you won’t be challenged. You absolutely will. But the challenge isn’t just about how much you sweat or how many repetitions you can survive.

Sometimes the challenge is control. Sometimes it’s mobility. Sometimes it’s learning a new skill.

Studio Élan is an invitation to move, explore, and build skills that stay with you long after class ends.

Because sometimes, getting movement back into your life is the first step toward something much bigger.

Come find your élan—and see where the momentum takes you.
